Matalaché es una novela que aborda el problema de la esclavitud y la discriminación racial en el Perú colonial. Narra la historia de amor entre un esclavo mulato llamado José Manuel (apodado “Matalaché”) y una mujer blanca de clase alta. Este amor es prohibido por las normas sociales de la época, lo que desencadena un conflicto trágico.
